A Knight, a King, a Sorcerer, and a Peasant Walk Into the Suburbs

Truly, no film has reached me on such an emotional level as this masterpiece of filmmaking. There is a German term: "Gesamtkunstwerk", which translates to "total work of art". I can think of no better way to describe the groundbreaking, hilarious, astonishing, heartbreaking, and thrilling ride this film continues to be upon my 70th viewing of it. The subtle new-wave influences threaded throughout such brilliant writing and balletic cinematography come through as shining beacons of what film aspires to be: pure, perfect art. Clearly heavily inspired by the greats such as Spielberg, Hitchcock, and Waititi, Dayala Singh is definitively going to be the next big name in Hollywood for generations to come.
